NOTE: For better experience, please use Google Chrome web browser when accessing and using the BSKA online tool.


The post-assessment entry option can be used:

  • in the case of extended absence beyond the first 5 weeks of Kindergarten
  • if a parent or carer has requested a student be withdrawn from the assessment
  • for marking multiple responses, or the rest of a student assessment, as ‘no attempt’ or ‘not given’
  • for entry of responses if the interactive version is unavailable and assessments have been completed using the paper version of the assessments. Note: Do not use this view to administer the assessment as it does not contain the full instructions and examples.
  • for entering comments if the bilingual BSKA has been administered.

1. From the 'Select student' screen: Click the Post-assessment entry button for the student and assessment (BSKA literacy or numeracy) you want to administer.

 

 

 

2. The Post-assessment entry screen displays:

  • student name and assessment name 
  • all assessment questions and responses in one page, grouped by the assessment section

 

 

 

  • you can use the Go to interactive assessment button to easily access the interactive assessment. For more information on the assessment, please see the Administer the assessment guide.

 

 

3. Select the student's response by clicking on the radio button. You can also type in any additional information in the Comment field.  


4. Click the Save progress button save the responses.

 

5. You can pause the assessment by clicking the Save progress button then select Select student from the menu. This will open the 'Select student' screen where you will see the student's assessment completion status is now 'In progress'.

 
6. Mark remaining student assessment responses as ‘no attempt’ or ‘not given’: When selecting student responses to assessment items. Note: there is an important difference between ‘no attempt’ and ‘not given’. Teachers should select ‘no attempt’ when a student does not respond to an assessment item that has been delivered. ‘Not given’ should be selected when a teacher does not deliver an assessment item.

  • Click the 'Mark the remaining questions in this assessment as...' button located at the top-left side of the screen.
     
  • Select 'No attempt' or 'Not given' from the options.
  • The response 'no attempt' or 'not given' may not apply to all questions. Review the assessment items indicated in red text individually to ensure a valid response has been applied. See the example below.

7. Marking a student as absent: The assessment can be administered at any time within a student's first five weeks of school. If a student has been absent for the first five weeks of the school year, teachers should mark the student as 'Absent' and lodge the assessment temporarily. You can lodge a support ticket to reopen the assessment once the student returns.

  • Click the Withdraw button on the top-right side of the screen. 

 

  • Select Absent from the options then click the Withdraw button. A pop-up window will open, click Confirm Withdrawal.


  • You will receive a notification to confirm you have successfully withdrawn the student, click OK to return to the home screen.

 

8. Marking a student as withdrawn upon parental consent:When you mark the assessment as 'Withdrawn upon parental consent', you are confirming you have obtained signed parental consent to withdraw the student from the assessment. The 'Request to withdraw' form can be found in the Administration guide in the BSKA folder. The signed form must be kept with the student's records.

  • Click the Withdraw button on the top-right side of the screen.
     
  • Select Withdrawn upon parental consent from the options then click the Withdraw button. A pop-up window will open, click Confirm Withdrawal.
  • Upon selecting Withdrawn upon parental consent, all responses will populate with the response ‘not given’ and the reason ‘Withdrawn upon parental consent’.

 

  • You will receive a notification to confirm you have successfully withdrawn the student, click OK to return to the home screen.
