The Supplementary Year 7 assessment is an online assessment for department schools that wish to assess individual students who did not complete Year 6 Check-in assessments in Term 3 last year. The Supplementary Year 7 assessment is made up of a literacy and a numeracy assessment.

Review Check-in Transition reports in Scout

  • The following reports can help you decide whether individual students at your school will complete the Supplementary Year 7 assessment:

  1. Transition Year 6 to 7 Cohort report
  2. Interim Transition Cohort report
    • available until end Week 3, Term 1
    • only displays students with ‘Applied to Enrol’ status in ERN*
    • Find out more about the Interim Cohort report


*As student movement and ERN updates occur at the start of Term 1, you may need to refer to one or both Transition reports to see a student’s name and reading and numeracy assessment data



Identify students who did not complete the Year 6 Check-in assessment

  • Use the Students without Results tables to view students without results for the Year 6 Check-in assessment from Term 3 last year.

  • You can export the table to excel if desired.
  • The Supplementary Year 7 assessment is for students who did not complete Year 6 Check-in assessments in Term 3 in the previous year.



Assign the Supplementary Year 7 assessment


  • Students can be assigned one or both of the assessments for Supplementary Year 7 assessment. If a student completed only one assessment last year, they do not need to resit the same assessment this year.

Students sit the test

  • Once the assessment is assigned, you need to share the assessment session link with your students.
  • Students will be able to see any assessments that have been assigned to them once they navigate to the link you provide. If you assign both assessments before sharing the link, the student will be able to do them in any order. 



View student results

  • After students have completed the Supplementary Year 7 assessment, results can be view and analysed in the Online assessments reports.
