How to generate Cohort snapshot analysis

You can generate and view Cohort snapshot analysis by selecting options from any of these filters:

  1. View observations by Sub-elements – this filter allows users to select the students and indicators that they want to analyse.
  2. View observations by Areas of focus - this filter allows users to select an existing area of focus that they want to analyse (an area of focus includes a set of students and progression indicators).
  3. View observations by Assessments – this filter allows users to select a set of progression indicators and observations mapped to a specific DoE assessment.
  4. View observations by Syllabus – this filter allows users to select Syllabus outcomes that they want to analyse.

VIEW OBSERVATIONS BY SUB-ELEMENT LEVELS

This filter allows users to select the students and indicators that they want to analyse

In the selection panel (left side of the ‘Cohort snapshot’ screen), follow these steps:

  1. Select View observations by Sub-element levels
  2. Select the Year level, Class or group and Student/s you want to analyse

  3. Select the Observation dates (date when the observations were recorded) or specify a date range by picking the year, term and week.

  4. Select the progression indicators you would like to focus on.

  5. Select the View observations recorded by drop-down to choose the source of observations which you would like to generate against your selected indicators. Filter between teacher observations or observations from an assessment.

NOTE: You will be shown the last observation entered from your chosen observation source.

  6. Select Generate analysis button

  7. The Cohort snapshot analysis will be displayed. The analysis screen allows you to:
    1. view information about the selected Term, Week, class or group, or Area of focus
    2. export the analysis to Excel
    3. view v2/v3 Mapping references guide
    4. view the list of indicators
    5. filter the bar graph by observation status
    6. view a stacked bar graph representation of the indicator status percentages
    7. view the numerical and percentage breakdown of each indicator status

  8. Filter the bar graph by observation status: Click the down arrow in the 'Show status in graph' column title then select/deselect the observation status you want to view

  9. View the list of students represented by the observation status: Click the bar graph or the number/percentage in the table cells. The list can be exported and downloaded as a Word document.

VIEW OBSERVATIONS BY AREAS OF FOCUS

This filter allows users to select an existing area of focus that they want to analyse (an area of focus includes a set of students and progression indicators)

In the selection panel (left side of the ‘Cohort snapshot’ screen), follow these steps:

  1. Select View observations by Areas of focus

  2. Select a Year level and Class or group

  3. Select the Observation dates (date when the observations were recorded) or specify a date range by picking the year, term and week.

  4. A list of existing Areas of focus related to your selected Year and Class or group will be displayed. Select an Area of focus from the list. Details of your selected Area of focus will be displayed on the right side of the screen.

  5. Select View observations recorded by to choose the source of observations which you would like to generate against your selected indicators. Filter between teacher observations or observations from an assessment.
