Overview
- Teachers will be able to tailor the IfSR-AT diagnostic assessment to suit the needs of the student, by choosing a section of the IfSR-AT and what tasks to ask the student based on classroom observations and/or teacher judgement.
- Each IfSR-AT section can be assessed and lodged multiple times.
- In IfSR-AT sections 2, 3 and 4, teachers can select one or multiple flexible strategies that the student used.
How to administer the assessment
- Open the IfSR-AT online tool.
- Select the student you want to assess.
- Select the section you want to assess.
- Before starting the assessment you will be prompted to confirm the student and IfSR-NP section. Select the ‘Start with...’ button or ‘Continue...’ button to start or resume the assessment.
- In the assessment screen you can:
- view the section and the student you are assessing
- view the sub-section and task of the section you are assessing
- view the required materials for the task
- view the instructions for the task
- read out the questions to ask the student (questions to ask are marked with a speech bubble icon)
- select a response from the Responses panel
- add a comment to note student’s behaviour (this is an optional field)
- proceed to the next task by selecting the Next button
- flag a task by selecting the Flag button
- go back to a previous task by selecting the Previous button
- view the progress bar which displays the count of completed tasks out of total number of tasks
- go to a specific task within the section by selecting the Go to button
- finish the interview by selecting the Finish interview button – this will mark the remaining incomplete tasks as ‘Not given’
- go to the ALAN helpdesk for support by clicking the Help link
- pause and exit the assessment page by clicking the Exit link – this will save your progress and close the assessment screen
- The responses and comments are automatically saved as you navigate through the tasks.
- All tasks within a section do not need to be administered. However, all questions must be completed in order to lodge the assessment. This can be achieved by marking the unadministered tasks or sub-sections as ‘Not given’. Select the Finish interview button to mark the remaining incomplete tasks as 'Not given'.
How to select multiple responses for flexible strategies
In IfSR-AT sections 2, 3 and 4, teachers can select one or multiple flexible strategies that the student used.
- Within section 2, 3 and 4, multiple responses can be selected for flexible strategies.
- Examples of flexible strategies are listed under response (a) of select tasks. Select response (a) to view the sub-options.
- You can select one or multiple options.
- The selected sub-options are saved and can be changed at any point before the assessment is lodged.
- To clear your selection, click 'Clear and choose another response'.
