Note: When accessing the Areas of focus feature in PLAN2, we recommend using Chrome web browser for better user experience.


Contents:


From the menu:

  1. Select PLAN2 link from the ALAN homepage to open the PLAN2 application.
  2. From the PLAN2 menu (three horizontal lines in the top right corner), select ‘Areas of focus’.

  3. The ‘Areas of focus’ screen will open. Click on the tabs ‘New’, ‘Existing’ or ‘Templates’ to create a new area of focus, view existing Areas of focus, or view Areas of focus templates.

From Class observations:

  1. Select the PLAN2 tile on the ALAN homepage. PLAN2 will open on the Class observations screen. 
  2. Select Year and Class or group
  3. Click the ‘Show Areas of focus’ button. If you have existing Areas of focus for your selected class or group, these will be displayed on the Class observations selection panel. If you do not have an existing Area of focus, you can create a new one by clicking the ‘Create new area of focus’ button.

  4. Select an Area of focus from the list. Details of your selected Area of focus will be displayed on the right side of the screen.

  5. Once you have selected the Area of focus you want to use, you can click the ‘Generate Class observations’ button to generate the Class observations data table.

     
  6. To see other Areas of focus, click the ‘Show more’ link at the bottom of the Areas of focus list. This will open the ‘Areas of focus’ screen. 
  7. To create a new Area of focus, click the ‘New’ button above the list of Areas of focus. This will open the ‘Create new Area of focus’ screen.

  8. Note: If you do not want to use an area of focus to generate Class observations, click the ‘Hide Areas of focus’ button then proceed with the Class observations steps as usual

From Student indicator progress:


  1. Select the PLAN2 tile on the ALAN homepage.  
  2. From the menu (three horizontal lines in the top right corner), select ‘Analysis’.

  3. In the ‘Analysis’ page, select the ‘Student indicator progress’ tile.

  4. Select Year level, Class or group and Student.

  5. Select the analysis date range. Select ‘From’ and ‘To’ dates.

  6. Click the ‘Show Areas of focus’ button. If you have existing Areas of focus for your selected student, these will be displayed on the Student indicator progress selection panel. If you do not have an existing Area of focus, you can create a new one by clicking the ‘Create new area of focus’ button.

  7. Select an Area of focus from the list. Details of your selected Area of focus will be displayed on the right side of the screen.

  8. Once you have selected the Area of focus you want to use, you can click the ‘Generate analysis’ button to generate the Student indicator progress analysis.

  9. To see other Areas of focus, click the ‘Show more’ link at the bottom of the Areas of focus list. This will open the ‘Areas of focus’ screen. 
  10.  To create a new Area of focus, click the ‘New’ button above the list of Areas of focus. This will open the ‘Create new Area of focus’ screen. 
  11. Note: If you do not want to use an area of focus to generate Student indicator progress, click the ‘Hide Areas of focus’ button then proceed with the Student indicator progress steps as per usual.
